Mohan should cultivate Sugarcane instead of jute because Uttar Pradesh is the largest producer of sugarcane in India as the geographical conditions it requires are available in Uttar Pradesh.

India is considered to be the home of sugarcane. It is a commercial and industrial crop.

Geographical condition for sugarcane growth:

1.Climate:
Sugarcane is a plant of hot wet tropical region. It needs high temperature( 21°- 27°C) and high annual rainfall (75-100 CM) . It needs cheap labour, regular use of fertilizers , irrigation and bright sunshine.

2. Soil:
It grows best on well drained Alluvial soil it regularly needs fertilizers.

3. Areas of production:
India is the second largest producer of sugarcane in the world. India has the largest area under sugarcane in the world but the yield is low. Uttar Pradesh is the largest producer of sugarcane in India. Punjab, Haryana and Bihar are the other states producing sugarcane in Northern India. Southern India with its hot wet climate has favourable conditions as a result higher yield is obtained there. Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra are the other main producer of sugarcane.
