let maximum marks = x
so, mohan secures = 125
and failed by 50 , so marks required to pass
= 175
so, 35℅ of x = 175
35/100× X = 175
x = 175×100/35
x = 500 marks

Let the maximum marks be x.

Mohan secured 125 marks and fails by 50.

Pass marks = (125 + 50) = 175

35\% \: of \: x = 175 \\  \\ → \frac{35}{100}  \times x = 175 \\  \\ →x =  \frac{175 \times 100}{35} \\  \\ →x = 500

∵ The maximum marks are 500.
