as we know that the formula for mole fraction is
mole fraction= moles of solute/total moles of solution.......(1)
in given data we have
we have to find the mole fraction of glycerin which can be obtained by
mole fraction= no.of mole of glycerin/no.of mole of glycerin + no.of mole of water
in given we have glycerin= 46g convert it first in moles
mole of glycerin= mass in g/molar mass of glycerin
molar mass= 92g/mol
mass=46g
mole= 46/92 = 0.5mole
now calculate same to get moles of water
mole of water = 36/18 = 2mole
now put these values in (1)
mole fraction of glycerin = 0.5/0.5+2 = 0.5/ 2.5 = 0.20
so the mole fraction of glycerin in given solution is 0.20.

weight of water , w = 36g
molar weight of water {e.g., H2O} = 1 × 2 + 16 = 18g/mol
so, number of mole of water = given weight/Mol wt.
= 36/18 = 2
given weight of glycerine = 46g
molar mass of glycerine {e.g., C3H8O3} = 92g/mol
so, number of mole of glycerine = given weight/Mol wt.
= 46/92 = 0.5
mole fraction of glycerine = number of mole of glycerine/(number of mole of glycerine + number of mole of water)
= 0.5/(2 + 0.5)
= 0.5/2.5 = 1/5
= 0.2
molar weight of water {e.g., H2O} = 1 × 2 + 16 = 18g/mol
so, number of mole of water = given weight/Mol wt.
= 36/18 = 2
given weight of glycerine = 46g
molar mass of glycerine {e.g., C3H8O3} = 92g/mol
so, number of mole of glycerine = given weight/Mol wt.
= 46/92 = 0.5
mole fraction of glycerine = number of mole of glycerine/(number of mole of glycerine + number of mole of water)
= 0.5/(2 + 0.5)
= 0.5/2.5 = 1/5
= 0.2
