Normally secondary growth takes place in roots and stem of dicotyledons & gymnosperms. - Due to lack of cambium in monocotyledons, secondary growth is absent. But exceptionally secondary, growth takes place in some monocotyledons. Such as - Palm, Yucca, Dracaena, Smilax, Agave, Coconut etc.
