Moovalur Ramamirtham was a Tamil social reformer, who worked for the annulling the Devadasi system in India.
She was born in Thiruvarur, and was brought up at moovalur a village near mayiladhuthurai.
Her continuous campaign to abolish the devadasi system was instrumental in the passage of the Madras Devadasi Act, which outlawed the practice in the year 1947.
Hence she was a freedom fighter too because she freed women from devdasi obscenity.
