The Central Vacuole is often the largest organelle inside a plant cell. Its functions are to hold cell materials and wastes and also to provide structure, shape and support for the plant.

The Central Vacuole maintains Turgor pressure inside the cell, whereby the cell materials are pushed against the cell wall, which allows the plant cell to take in more light energy for processing food through photosynthesis.

Answer:

  • A plant cell has a large central vacuole full of cell  sap to provide turgidity and rigidity to the cell.
  • Many substances of importance in the life of  plant cells such as amino acids, sugars, various  organic acids and some proteins are stored in  these vacuoles.
