Most of the plant tissues are dead, yet they perform important function. What is this function? What are these tissues called? What advantage do these dead tissues give to the plants?

Some are dead(sclerenchyma) and some are living(collenchyma). The dead cells provides strength and support to the plant parts due to which plants stand erect. They can also withstand strong winds because of these dead cells. dead cells give structural support and strength to the plant as they are stationary.
