Mother Teresa was born on August26,1910 in Skopje Macedonia (FYROM) and died on 5 September 1979 in Calcutta. She was not an Indian but she does many things for India. She was a kind lady. She help poors and those people who wanted help. Her Father's name was Nikolle Bojaxhiu and her Mother's name was Dranafile Bojaxhiu. Her full name was Agnes Gonxa Bojaxhiu.
Contribution towards education- She was a great teacher. She always encourage children to learn, read and write. She inspired the children to get education and become literate. She was full of will power, discipline and determination. She teaches in St. Peter School in Calcutta. She contribute her sallery for making poor children literate. She always do her works with responsibility and no one found a mistake in his works.
Achievements- Mother Teresa had first been recognised by the Indian government more than a third of century earlier when she was awarded Padma Shri in 1962 and the Jawaharlal Nehru Award for International understanding in 1969. She continued to receive major Indian awards in subsequent years, including India's highest Civilian award, the Bharat Ratna in both 1972 and 1980. President Ronald Reagan presented Mother Teresa with the Presidental Medal of freedom at a White House ceremony, 1985. In 1962 Mother Teresa received the Philippines based Ramon Magsaysay Award for International understanding, given for work in South or East Asia. Bu the early 1970's, Mother Teresa had become an Intenational celebrity. Her fame can be in large part attributed to the 1969 documentry. Somethimg Beautiful for God, which was filmed by Malcolm Muggeridge and his 1971 book of the same title. In 1971 Paul VI aeatded her the first Pope John XXIII Peace Prize. She later received the Pacem in Terris award (1976 ). The United Kingdom and the United States each repeatedly granted awards, ciluminating in the order of merit in 1983, and honory citizenship of the United States received on 16 November 1996. Mother Teresa's Albanion homeland granted her the Golden Honour of the Nation in 1994. She received other civilian awards including the Balzan Prize for promoting humanity, peace and brotherhood among peoples (1978) , and the Albert Switzerland price (1975). In 1979, Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize "for work undertaken to struggle to overcome poverty and distress, which also contitutes a threat to peace". She refused the conventional ceremonial banquet given to laureates and ask that the $192,000 funds be given to poor in India. She was a great lady and received many other prizes.
