Answer:

When I was on a walk with my friend. I suddenly saw someone is wasting water. I asked my friend should we stop him. My friend rejected me and told me we dont interfere in these matters. let them continue what they are doing. But I am not satisfied with my friends answer I really wanted to stop that person who is wasting water. So, I told about the fact that Ninety-seven percent of all water on the earth is salt water, which is not suitable for drinking. Only 3% of water on Earth is fresh water, and only 0.5% is available for drinking. The other 2.5% of fresh water is locked in ice caps, glaciers, the atmosphere, soil, or under the earth's surface, or is too polluted for consumption. If we continue to waste water then in upcoming days we are begging for water. And I also told him With growing population rates and such a small percentage of all the water on Earth fit for consumption, it only makes sense that we must preserve and conserve this precious resource. Now my friend was aware with the fact that Our available water supply is finite. That means we do not have an endless amount of water. Then he ask me how should then we conserve or save water. I simply replied its not a big deal we can start with our homes. he asked how? . I replied just off your taps while brushing, use shower in the place of bucket water. The water that was used in cleaning the vegetables and fruits can be used in plants or gardening. Now he is ready to stop that person who is wasting water.

Essay: How I motivated my friends to save water

I have lots of friends, some are from my school and some are from the same locality. A few of them became my friends because we share the same interest in games like cricket.

I have been learning about water scarcity across the world due to pollution, increase in population and wastage. I decided to talk about water conservation to my friends whenever I get the opportunity. I usually give them the statistics and what it would be like in the coming years. This catches their attention and curiosity. I told them that we have always taken our precious water resource for granted as if it is impossible to exhaust it. But now we must change our attitude towards water.

I tell them why water is our most important resource and also the most abused resource. Half of the world’s largest cities have been facing water scarcity. Water scarcity can be defined as the lack of freshwater resources to satisfy water demand. Population growth, industrialization, rapid urbanisation, rising needs of irrigation and increase in domestic water usage have accelerated the demand for water. Pollution of rivers and lakes will create extreme water scarcity in all major cities. On the earth’s surface, 71% of the land is covered by water and other 29% by the land. In that 71% of water, only 3% of water is usable for human consumption. Survival without water is impossible, so water conservation and the prevention of water wastage is vital for life on Earth.

After sharing the statistics I told my friends about water conservation. This means utilising water efficiently to reduce wastage. It includes recycling used water so that it can be used again. Water conservation refers all the policies, strategies and activities to sustainably manage the natural resource of fresh water.

Now they have understood why saving water is vital for the present as well as for the future human need. The response from my friends is positive and encouraging. We all agreed to save water and reduce scarcity of water. Our main points for conserving water are-- prevention of dripping of water from taps, quick repair leakage from water pipes, turning off taps when not in use while brushing teeth, reusing water after washing dishes, fruits and vegetables for watering garden plants and flowers. At times we also gather our friends of friends and carry out cleanliness drive on lakes and rivers. And we plan to spread the word on the importance of saving water to more people.
