Mountains are of various heights and shapes. These differences occur due to the
age of mountains. The mountains that have stood for long look rounded and smooth.
There are very slow changes caused by weathering and erosion. Years of exposure to
water, wind, and ice causes the shaping of the mountains. The Aravallis are examples
of old mountains with low and rounded peaks. On the other hand, the Himalayas are
young mountains; therefore, they are very high and have conical peaks.
However, there may be some rapid changes in the shapes of the mountains.
These are caused by the earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
