CORRECT QUESTION:-

 \tt  \pink{Which \:  least \:  number  \: should  \: be \:  subtracted }  \\ \tt \pink{from \:  1000 \:  so \:  that \:  the \:  difference \: </p><p>is}  \\ \tt \pink{ exactly  \: divisible \:  by \:  84}?

GIVEN:-

  • no. = 1000

  • and difference is exactly divisible by 84.

FIND:-

  • Least no. = ?

SOLUTION:-

Let, a = 1000 and b = 84.

So, we get a = bq+r

1000 = 84 × q + r

1000 = 11 × 84 +76

Now, subtract (76) from both sides

 \bold {1000 - 76 = 11 × 84  \cancel{+76} \cancel{ - 76}}

 \bold {924 = 11 \times 84}

924 is divisible by 11

Hence, \boxed{\bold{76}} is the smallest no. to be subtracted.
