Mr John has Son and daughter, the son being 4 years older than the daughter. 5 years ago the age of Mr John was 23 years more than the sum of the ages of a son and daughter. after 18 years from now the age of Mr John will be 17 times a difference of Ages of his son and his daughter. find their present ages.

age of daughter=x     age of son = x+4          5years ago age of mr. john=x+x+4+23=2x+ 27        age of mr john now= 2x+32      after 18 years mr john= 17{(x+22)-(x+18)}
