Mr. Marvel was a tramp, a man with no aims in life. It was the most unfortunate time during which he had to assist the most dangerous man, the invisible scientist, Griffin. But Mr. Marvel was a sneaky character. Mr. Marvel lost his freedom first and the he lost his sleep and peace of mind. He was too scared to fight back. Ran away from Griffin. Had the sense to keep the three books and a huge amount of money with him. He also showed extraordinary smartness in getting himself locked up in the Burdock police station for safety. After Griffin was killed, Mr. Marvel went to Portstowe and built his own inn, ‘THE INVISIBLE MAN. He never disclosed the whereabouts of the three books and ‘stole’ the money that Griffin had stolen from his father. In this way, Mr. Marvel proved to be the ultimate opportunist.
