Given : Mr. McBride ordered 6 cheese pizzas and 7 pepperoni pizzas and paid $153.50 .

he ordered 2 cheese and 2 pepperoni pizzas and paid $47.00.

To Find : cost of one pepperoni pizza

Solution:

cheese pizza cost = C   $

pepperoni pizza  cost = P   $

6 cheese pizzas and 7 pepperoni pizzas  cost = 153.5  $

=>  6C + 7P  =  153.5

2 cheese pizzas and 2 pepperoni pizzas  cost = 47  $

=> 2C + 2P  =  47

=> C + P = 23.5

=> C  = 23.5 - P

6C + 7P  =  153.5

=> 6(23.5 - P)  + 7P = 153.5

=> 141 - 6P + 7P  = 153.5

=> P = 12.5 $

cost of one pepperoni pizza = 12.5 $
