Given:

✰ Total expenditure = Rs. 7200

✰ Money spent on Rent = Rs. 1800

✰ Money spent on Food = Rs. 2700

✰ Money spent on Education = Rs. 900

✰ Money spent on Others = Rs. 1200

To Draw:

✠ Pie chart to represent the given data.

Solution:

⚘ Refer the attachment above ⚘

Pie chart:

When the numerical data is represented by the sectors of a circle, the graph obtained is called pie graph or pie chart.

Steps:

  • First of all we will find the amount of money he saves. To find the amount of money he saves we will add the amount of money in different cases he spent, then we will substract the total amount of money he spends from the total expenditure to get the amount of money he is left with i.e, he saves, as

⟹ Total sum of money he spends = Rs. 1800+ Rs. 2700 + Rs. 900 + Rs. 1200

⟹ Total sum of money he spends = Rs. ( 4500 + 2100 )

⟹ Total sum of money he spends = Rs. 6600

Now,

⟹ Money saved = Total expenditure - Total sum of money he spends

⟹ Money saved = 7200 - 6600

⟹ Money saved = Rs. 600

  • Since the angle about the centre of a circle is 360°, divide the 360° in proportion of given data. In this question, divide 360 in proportion 1800 : 2700 : 900 : 1200 : 600 top obtain corresponding central angle.

  • Make a table as given in attachment 1.

  • Draw a circle of any suitable radius.

  • For each central-angle, draw a sector.

  • We will obtain a pie chart or pie graph as given in attachment 2.
