Solution :-

Let us assume that, Mr. Raman hired x software engineers and y diploma holders .

so,

→ x + y = 100 --------- Eqn.(1)

now, given that, half of the engineers were hired on contract ,

so,

→ Engineers hired on contract = (x/2)

→ Full time engineer = (x/2)

also,

  • Full time engineers were paid = Rs.500 each .
  • Contract engineers were paid = Rs.400 each .
  • Diploma holder paid = Rs.100 each .
  • Total payment = Rs.20,000 .

then,

→ 500(x/2) + 400(x/2) + 100y = 20000

→ 250x + 200x + 100y = 20000

→ 450x + 100y = 20000

→ 50(9x + 2y) = 20000

→ 9x + 2y = 400 ------------ Eqn.(2)

Multiply Eqn.(1) by 9 and subtracting Eqn.(2) from result ,

→ 9(x + y) - (9x + 2y) = 9*100 - 400

→ 9x - 9x + 9y - 2y = 900 - 400

→ 7y = 500

→ y = (500/7)

→ y ≈ 72 (Ans.)

Hence, 72 diploma holders were working on Paw Perfect .
