Step-by-step explanation:

33 1/3 %

If initial salary is Rs 100.

After 25% reduction, salary will become Rs 75.

To make it again Rs 100, the salary should be increased by Rs 25.

So % increase required = 100*25/75= 100/3 % = 33 1/3 %

Mr. Ravi's salary had been increased by 33⅓%

Given : Mr. Ravi's salary was reduced by 25% for three months. But after the 3 months, his salary was increased to original salary.

To find : The percentage increase in salary of Mr. Ravi.

Solution :

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process. (our goal is to calculate the increase percentage)

Let, his initial salary = Rs. x

After 25% decrease his salary became :

 = x - (x \times 25\%)

 = x - (x \times  \frac{25}{100} )

 = x -  \frac{x}{4}

 =  \frac{4x - x}{4}

 = Rs. \:  \:  \frac{3x}{4}

Let, the increase percentage = y %

After y% increase his salary became :

 =  \frac{3x}{4}  + ( \frac{3x}{4}  \times y\%)

 =  \frac{3x}{4}  + ( \frac{3x}{4}  \times  \frac{y}{100} )

 =  \frac{3x}{4}  +  \frac{3xy}{400}

 = Rs. \:  \:  \:  \frac{300x + 3xy}{400}

According to the data mentioned in the question,

\frac{300x + 3xy}{400}  = x

 300x + 3xy = 400x

 3xy = 400x - 300x

 3xy = 100x

 3y = 100

 y = \frac{100}{3}

 y = 33 \frac{1}{3}

So, increase percentage = y% = 33⅓%

(This will be considered as the final result.)

Hence, Mr. Ravi's salary had been increased by 33⅓%
