Given: Ratio of the number of apples to the number of oranges= 2:5.

          Apples given to his sister=3/4

         Oranges given to his brother=34

         Ratio of the remaining oranges to the remaining apples=2:3

To find:

  Total Apples bought by Mr.Roshan

   Total Oranges bought by Mr.Roshan

Solutions:

Let the no.of apples bought be 2x

Let the no.of oranges bought be 5x

Apples given to his sister = 3/4 x 2x = 3/2x

Remaining apple= 2x-3/2x=1/2x ---->(1)

Oranges given to his brother=34

Remaining oranges=5x-34 ---->(2)

Let the remaining apple he has=2y ---->(3)

Let the remaining oranges he has=3y---->(4)

From (1) and (3)

x=4y---->(5)

From (2) and (4)

5x-34=3y

5x=3y+34 ---->(6)

Putting (5) in (6)

5(4y)=3y +34

20y=3y+34

17y=32

y=2

Putting y=2 in (5)

x=4(2)=8

Therefore, No.of apples bought =2(8)=16

              No.of oranges Bought =5(8)=40
