Given:

Mr. Sunil Sold his scooter at a loss of 10%.

To find:

CP of the scooter

Solution:

We have given the condition as:

If he  had sold it for Rs 1,200 more, he would have  gained 2%

In that case:

Let the CP of the scooter is 100 units

Case 1:

If there is a loss of 10% so, the loss on the scooter will be 10 units.

Then,

The SP of the scooter will be:

  • CP - loss
  • 100 - 10
  • 90 units

Case 2:

If there is a gain of 2% so, the gain on the scooter will be 2 units.

Then,

The SP of the scooter will be:

  • CP + Profit
  • 100 + 2
  • 102 units

As per the given condition of the question:

  • ₹1200 = 102 - 90 units
  • ₹1200 = 12 units
  • 1 unit = ₹120

So, the CP of the scooter will be

100×₹120

₹12000

CP of the scooter is ₹1200
