54 students will be left out of this arrangement.

• If there are equal rows and columns, then the total number of students will be square of the students in a single row or column.

• Which means the total number of the students is a perfect square number which is nearest and less than the total number of the students.

• Such perfect square number is 576 (square of 24).

• So,the remaining students are = (600-576) = 24.
