Mr. x (father) is twice his daughter's age. how many yrs. ago was he three times his daughter's age, if his daughter's present age is 20

present age of daughter is 20 years .
present age of father is (20×2)=40 years
According to the question,
40 - x=3x
or,40 -x+x=3x+x
or,40=4x
or,4x=40
or, x=40/4

=10 years
Answer is 10years.
