Mrs Pumphrey said so because according to her, Dr. Herriot took Tricky for some kind of surgery or operation but actually it was a therapy. When she saw Tricky healthy and fit at the end of the story, she said that the surgery was successful and thanked Mr. Herriot for making this operation victorious.
