Let x be the monthly salary of Mrs. Rane.

Vinod's pocket money = 0.025 of x

Let Vinod's pocket money be y. We know, y = 0.025x.

Expenditure =    0.8  of  y
So, savings =     (1-0.8)   of   y =    0.2y

Given, savings = Rs. 277. 50

0.2y=277.50

We have to solve for x. So, we put x.

[∵ y = 0.025x]

0.2*0.025x=277.50

⇒   0.005x=277.5

⇒   x= \frac{277.5}{0.005}

⇒   x=55500       (ans.)
