MS-DOS was developed in the year 1981.

1. MS-DOS(Microsoft Disk Operating System) is an operating system which was used in x86-based personal computers.

2. MS-DOS old name was 86-DOS which was owned by Seattle Computer Products and it was written by Tim Paterson in six weeks.

3. In August 1980, its first version was shipped and as Microsoft was in need operating system for IBM Personal Computer so, they bought 86-DOS in July 1981 and had already hired Tim Paterson in May 1981.

4. Microsoft changed name of 86-DOS to MS-DOS but, kept the version number same which was 1.10.

5. After then IBM licensed and re-released it in August 1981 named as PC DOS 1.0.

6. MS-DOS had eight versions and it's final release was on September 14, 2000.
