: How had peasants and tribals participated in the Non - Cooperation Movement in different parts of India? Explain.
:
The peasants in the countryside also stood to gain by this movement. They had taken part in this movement because they hoped that by doing so, they would be saved from both the oppressive landlords and the High revenue taxes of the Colonial Government.
Tribals interpreted the message of Non - Cooperation Movement in a different way. They thought that by opposing the Britishers such as by disobeying their forest laws, breaking the barriers on collection of fuel wood and fruits, they could gain Swaraj. The man who came into light was Alluri Sitaram Raju. With his help, the tribals attacked police stations, attempted to kill officers and initiated Guerilla war.
