Mukasa-mugerwa (1989) reported that the most important parameters to measure the farm economy are calving interval, age at puberty and service per conception among which calving interval is considered as probably the best index of a cattle herd's to measure reproductive efficiency.

The average length of service period in one herd was 150 days, of which 120 days was postpartum interval and 30 days was Page 21 12 from first service to conception. They pointed out that the period from parturition to first estrus was too long for early conception
