Delocalized or multicenter bonding [2, 3] results when a pair of electrons is involved in bonding between three or more atoms or in MO terms, when a pair of electrons occupies a bonding molecular orbital encompassing the atomic orbitals of three or more atoms

Multicenter bonds are found in electron deficient molecules.
Explanation:
- Multicenter bonds are defined as those bonds which has bond order of less than 1 and are formed in case of electron deficient molecules.
- Sometimes some molecules are formed where the number of electron pairs are less that what are required for a normal bonding.
- This leads to sharing of a same electron pair by more than 1 bond.
- This leads to the bond order of less than 1.
- In case of diborane i.e B2H6, the borane molecule is BH3. But they dimerises to from B2H6 where there are 8 atoms with 6 electron pairs.
- This leads to formation of a transition bond between B-H-B which has 3 centre but 2 electrons.
- So its called 3c2e bond.
- This is also called banana bond in calloucial term for it's orbital shape.
