The Multiplication Principle

According to the Multiplication Principle, if one event can occur in m ways and a second event can occur in n ways after the first event has occurred, then the two events can occur in m × n \displaystyle m\times n m×n ways.

The general multiplication rule formula is: P(A ∩ B) = P(A) P(B|A) and the specific multiplication rule is P(A and B) = P(A) * P(B).
