Amendment of Constitution:
• The procedure to add or remove any provisions in the constitutional is called as "Amendment".
• In simple words, amendment is the process in which we make some modifications in the Constitution.
• The part XX of the Indian Constitution gives power to amend the Constitution.
• The article 362 clearly mentions the procedure of amendments.
• Earlier the power to amend the constitution was vested with Supreme court.
• But after the 42nd amendment act the power to amend the constitution was passed into the hands of Parliament.
• Different types of laws need different majority to amend them.
• For some laws it needs simple majority to amend them.
• Meanwhile, other laws needs huge majority to amend them.
Examples:
• Formation of new states, rules regarding citizenship etc need simple majority.
• Making changes in Fundamental Rights, DPSP etc need huge majority.
