We know that the algebraic identity

( x + y )( x - y ) = x^2 - y^2

104 × 96

= ( 100 + 4 ) ( 100 - 4 )

= ( 100 )^2 - ( 4 )^2

= 10000 - 16

= 9984

Therefore,

104 × 96 = 9984

I hope this helps you.....
