(13 + 5) \times ( - 4 + 2) \\ = 18 \times ( - 2) \\ = ( - 36)

Why so?

13 +5 = 18, by simple addition

and clearly,

2-4= (-2)

now

We know

(-a) ×(-b) = +ab

and

(+a)×(-b)=-ab

thus (-2) × 18= (-36)
