Mumbai gets more rain because the it is a country surrounded by water bodies also the clouds and winds from the Indian Ocean on the north south side are the first to rain on mumbai. ..

it is because it is on the coastal side of the indian peninsula and pune lies in the Deccan plateau so the monsoon winds which come they divide into two parts one go towards west and the other to the east of the indian peninsula so the winds which go towards west they go over mumbai and the little winds which deflect towards the Deccan plateau they go over pune and they less then one winds which go towards mumbai so less rainfall is observed in pune than mumbai.
