Santhal tribe is the third largest tribe of India which mainly resides in the states of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam, etc. As per Census 2001, the Santhal tribe constitutes 51% of the total tribal population of West Bengal. It is followed by Oraon (14%), and Mundas (7.8%).
