Murray works at a cell phone service kiosk in a shopping mall. He earns $8.50/h, plus a $15 commission for each 1-year service contract he sells.

a) Find the amount Murray makes in 8 h when he sells seven service contracts.

b) How many service contracts does Murray need to sell to earn $790 in a 40-h work week?

(It’s quite a bit so I apologize, but if you’re able to help me fully comprehend this it would be very nice of you :) thank you!)

his earning = $8.5/h

commission=$15 for each contract

a) 8 hr wrk& 7 contract

8.5×8=$68

7×15=$105

total amount=68+105=$173.

b)40 h work,total amount=$790

for work he earn 40×8.5=$340.

amount got by selling contract=$790-$340=$450.

he earned $ 450 by selling contract.

each contract gives $15.

therefore, no. of contract sold=450/15=30

ANS :- He sold 30 contracts.
