The given statement is False because Murshid Quli Khan was the Nawab of Bengal.

EXPLANATION:

Murshid Quli Khan was the Subedar of Bengal Suba and later he adopted title of the Nawab of Bengal province. He became Subedar of Bengal in 1717. India at that time was under rule of Mughals.

The administrative system of Mughals was such that the whole country was divided into various provinces or Subas and ruler of these provinces or Subas were called Subedars. The Subedar of Bengal Province which included present-day Bengal, Bangladesh, Bihar, and Odisha was Murshid Quli Khan.

Later he adopted title of Nawab of Bengal and made Murshidabad his capital which is in present-day Bangladesh. He remained in power from 1717 to 1727 and was later succeeded by his nephew Siraj- ud- daulah.
