The Human Brain is the greatest creation of God. It is a blend of Art and Science, emotion and rationality.
The thinking of the brain is usually categorised under two main heads- the mind and the heart.
The mind represents the practical side of thinking-thinking with logic whilst the heart reflects humanity- thinking with emotions and sentiments.
Each and every one of us use both the mind and the heart depending on the circumstances.
A mother loves and thinks with her heart, a doctor on the other hand works with the mind.
I have faced both circumstances. When my mother died and my father completely broke down in grief, I being the only child ,could not let my heart take control. I had to think with my mind and go about with all the rites and rituals.
When a stray cat gave birth to a litter of kittens at the attic, I listened to my heart's call and let them stay their undisturbed, feeding them everyday. My mind was reasoning out that they should be thrown out as cats can never be trusted.
My advice is to let both the heart and mind do the thinking but according to the situation one must decide who to prioritise. We should not suffer like Hamlet in a 'to be or not to be' situation.
If it comes to duty and responsibility it is the mind who should be given the upper hand but when it comes to love, friendship and charity and other abstract feelings the heart should rule.
