Explanation:

The answer to the given question is \tt{CuSO_4.5H_2O}

The reaction:-

\tt{CuSO_4.5H_2O} with water of crystallization.

On heating :-

\tt{CuSO_4.5H_2O \longrightarrow_{heat} CuSO_4 + 5H_2O}

  • Here, the water of crystallization is lost.

When it was in \tt{CuSO_4.5H_2O} form, then it had blue color due to water of crystallization.

Now, when it is heated, the water is evaporated and initially turns white.

Reverting the reaction to get back blue color :-

\tt{CuSO_4 + 5H_2O \longrightarrow CuSO_4.5H_2O }

Now, it gets back it's blue color.

Hence, the answer is \tt{CuSO_4.5H_2O \ or \ Copper \ Sulphate.}

Another example of Water of Crystallization is Washing Soda!

\tt{Na_2CO_3.10H_2O \ or \ scientifically \ called}

\tt{ -- \ Sodium \ Carbonate \  Decahydrate \ --}

Required Answer :-

Copper Sulphate

The molecular formula is CuSO₄(H₂O)ₓ. Here x can vary from the number 0 to 5.  AS color of copper is sulphate is blue and it has a drop of water (H₂O) and when we will heat it then a white powder will formed.

Chemical equation

CuSO₄.5H₂O ---(heat added)--- CuSO₄ + 5H₂O

Word equation

Copper Sulphate.5(Water) ---(heat added)--- Copper Sulphate + 5(Water)
