Let your sister Rita's share be r, Gita's be g , and your share be y.
Now, if r=3/5
The rest of the share is 2/5 (i.e.1-3/5)..............{1}
And g=2y (given that Gita has twice the share that you have)............{2}
∴The rest of the share = 2/5 = g+y = 2y+y {using 1 and 2}
⇒2/5 = y+2y = 3y
On transposing,
⇒2/5 ÷3= y
⇒2/5 × 1/3=y {instead of dividing fractions, we can multiply the fraction to the reciprocal of the other number}
∴ y=1/15
Now, if r=3/5
The rest of the share is 2/5 (i.e.1-3/5)..............{1}
And g=2y (given that Gita has twice the share that you have)............{2}
∴The rest of the share = 2/5 = g+y = 2y+y {using 1 and 2}
⇒2/5 = y+2y = 3y
On transposing,
⇒2/5 ÷3= y
⇒2/5 × 1/3=y {instead of dividing fractions, we can multiply the fraction to the reciprocal of the other number}
∴ y=1/15
