why do birds don't get electric shock while sitting on naked wires

There are two parallel transmission lines on high tension coils the potential difference between these two lines is about 240V throughout their lengths. If you connect any conducting device across these two wires it causes current to flow between the wires. When the bird stands on high tension coils there is no potential difference between the legs of the bird because it stands on a single wire. So no current passes through the bird. Hence it doesn't feel any electric shock

Birds do not get electric shock while sitting on naked wires due to 2 reason

1) They don't complete the whole circuit that is their body doesn't touch the ground.
2)They are poor conductors of heat, so they don't offer free path to electrons.They provide resistance to current, but we know electric current flows through path that offers no or less resistance, therefore they don't get electric shock.
