The author mentions that it is unhappily a rare thing of courtesy and hospitality in this modern world of competition and rivalry. In this modern world, all are going competition and after the money. These friendliness, hospitality and courtesy are not availed in this modern world among the modern people.

In contrast, the author loved and sought of beauty of Assam. He had intoxicated/interested with the delight of the natural scene. He loved the grace and charm of the people. He also surprised to see the human relationship, courtesy and friendliness of Assam. He had seen so much courtesy and friendliness in ordinary people, from shop keepers, from the chap who helped to inform the way on the road and also from officials and above all from the hill folk. The author Dr. Verrier Elwin exited at the Kaziranga Game Reserve. The author went to East Africa and spent a lot of time in famous Sanctuaries but he only observed hippopotamus but not a single rhino there. Instead, in Kaziranga, within a couple of hours, he had seen a dozen of rhinos. He had seen many rhinos, some were irritable but most of them made him charming when he visited by elephant and took photograph.

Dr. Verrier Elwin mentions that in Assam, there is a great treasure which consists of many beautiful natural things. There is a good taste of the sense of colour and form, the delight in beauty, the love of rhythm, and the right in music. In Assam sanctuaries like Kaziranga, there are several animals than East African’s sanctuaries. The art of work and music are wonderful which ought to know. The carving in wood of Assam makes splendid decorations on most of the houses. The Assam is also famous for maidens for which Gandhiji once said that ‘the maidens of lovely Assam weave poems on their handlooms’. In Assam, women produce textiles of exquisite taste and sophisticated colour. For these reasons, the author comments, “You have a great treasure there”.

On this regard, the author suggests that we should never look down on the simple and natural things of our villages and to Study them with love and sympathy. Also the author mentions that these great treasures cannot be manufactured by the factory or ordered by an office. They grow out of the ancient soil and once they are gone, they can never be recovered.
