My mother at sixty six is a poem by the poetess Kamala Das, she is describing her aging mother in this poem and how the poetess is feeling, leaving her mother behind, when she knows that it can also be the last time she sees her.
As her mother was aging and it was evident on her face, which looked as pale as that of a corpse. The poetess could see the sadness in her mother's eyes and the wrinkles on her mother's face were depicting the aging of her mother. Poetess was unsure if she would be able to meet her mother again or not but she doesn't let her mother see how sad she was while leaving her behind.
