Step-by-step explanation:

my age = x

mothers age = 2x+12

mothers age after 8 years = 3(x+8) - 20

from present age =2x+12+8

2x+20=3x+24-20

my age =16

mothers age = 44

S O L U T I O N :

Let the present age of me be r years.

Let the present age of Mother's be (2r + 12) years.

A/q

\underbrace{\bf{After\:8\:years\::}}}}

The age of me will be (r+8) years.

The age of Mother's will be (2r+12+8) years.

The age of Mother's will be (2r+20) years.

So;

\longrightarrow\tt{3(r+8)-20=2r+20}\\\\\longrightarrow\tt{3r+24-20=2r+20}\\\\\longrightarrow\sf{3r+4=2r+20}\\\\\longrightarrow\tt{3r-2r=20-4}\\\\\longrightarrow\bf{r=16\:years}

Thus;

\underbrace{\sf{The\:present\:age\:of\:me\:wil\:be\:r=\boxed{\bf{16\:years}}}}}}\\\underbrace{\sf{The\:present\:age\:of\:Mother\:wil\:be\:(2r+12)=[2(16)+12]=[32+12]=\boxed{\bf{44\:years}}}}}}
