My question is what are neutral oxides ? Explain the how is ethanol prepared from methanol by using grignard Reagents

Neutral oxides are the oxides which are neither acidic or basic in nature.
these oxides are unreactive i.e, they neither react with a base nor an acid.

Preparation of ethanol from methanol involves the following process-

Methanol + PCl3 = Methyl Chloride - H3PO3 + KCN = Methyl Cyanide - KCl + 2H2O = Acetic acid - NH3 + LiAlH4 = Ethanol - H2O
