The horizontal power sharing
Power is shared among different organs of government such as the legislature, executive and judiciary. Organs of the government are placed at the same level to exercise different powers.
Each organ observes the other. The division of government into the executive, the legislature and the judiciary is an example of horizontal division of power.
The vertical sharing power,
Power is shared among the different levels of the governments. Power involves the highest and the lower levels of government. The lower organs work under the higher organs the Constitution defines the way power is to be shared between the Central or Union government and the various State governments.

FORMS OF POWER SHARING :
________________________
1)Power is shared among different organs of the government, such as the legislature, executive and judiciary. This is called horizontal distribution of power because it allows different levels of the government placed at the same level to exercise different powers. Each organ checks the other. This is called system of checks and balances.
2)Power can be shared among governments at different levels. The general government for the entire country and the government at provincial or state levels. Such a general government for the entire country is called union government or central government and the latter is called state government. The division of higher and lower levels of government is called vertical division of power.
3)Power may also be shared among different social groups such as religious and linguistic groups. 'Community government' of Belgium is a good example of this arrangement. In India, there is a system if reserved constituencies for socially backward classes. Also one-third of the seats are reserved for women in local government body elections.
4)Power sharing arrangement can also be seen in the way political parties, pressure groups and movements control or influence those in power. Some of the business groups directly influence the election, while some in indirect ways. They give fund to political parties for conducting elections and thus have a influence on them.
