The potential difference obtained is - nV

The question states that firstly the capacitors are connected in parallel. The charge on each capacitor, when connected in parallel will be - Q = CV.

On connection in series, the capacitors will still have same charge Q as stated. Now, on series connection the total potential is sum of all the potentials.

Therefore new potential difference will be sum of potentials on n capacitors.

V total = Q/C of n capacitors

V total = nCV/C

V total = nV

Hence, total potential will be nV volts.
