nadeem has some marbles. 1/2 of them are red , 1/8 are blue and the rest are black. If he has 18 black marbles,then how many red marbles does he have?

Let Total no. of marbles be x

then, x/2 + x/8 + 18 = x

           (5x + 144)/8 = x

            5x + 144 = 8x

        => 3x = 144

        =>   x = 48

Hence no. of red marbles = 48/2 = 24
