FIRST: The story of village Palampur.

This chapter deals with the basic concepts related to production by setting the village as an example. We are told about requirements of goods and services for any type of production, The strategies for farming in the village, Green Revolution, the basis of distribution of land, process of providing labours and finally non farming activities in Palampur.

SECOND: People as a resource.

It is an effort to explain people as an asset or liability for the economy. How people serve in rising and demoting state of economy. It tells about role of health and education in economic condition of a country. It states that quality of population will decide the quality of economy too. It also deals with problem of unemployment and tells it's types. Finally, it concludes that agriculture is field where country like India has most employment
