if mean of n term is x . and if 1st term is increased by1 and 2 nd term is increased by 2 and so on than find the new mean

Let the numbers be  x_{y} (0 ≤ y < n), then the mean of the given set is

 x_{i} / n =  S_{1}

But the new mean is  S_{2} [/text]<br /><br />= (1 + [tex] x_{1} ) + (2 +  x_{2} [/text]) + ... / n<br /><br />=(3/n) + [tex] S_{1}

= x + 3/n
