The buoyant force or upthrust depends upon two factors:
1) Volume of the object immersed - If the volume of the object is more, the buoyant force acting on it is more and if the volume of the object is less, then the buoyant force acting on it is less.
Thus we can say the upthrust is directly proportional to volume of the object.
2) Density of the liquid - If the density of the liquid is more, example : salt water, then buoyant force is more.
Thus we can also say the buoyant force is directly proportional to density of the liquid.
