There are quite a few non - government organisation in India that works for the benifit of the socially deprived women and children. Some of these organisations are :-

• Smile Foundation : It was founded in 2002 . This organisation aims at helping underprivileged children to pursue their education.

• Pratham : Based in Mumbai, this organisation came up in 1994 to provide education to the children from the slums of the cities.

• Udaan : A fairly new organisation, founded in 2008. This establishment focuses on empowering the lives of as many destitute children as it can.

• Deepalaya : This establishment works on the issues that affect children and women such as health and education.
